ITINERARY:

Our Half-Day Birding Tour in Cusco begins with an early pick-up from your hotel at 6:00 am, heading toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The scenic drive reveals stunning Andean landscapes dotted with villages, farmlands, and native vegetation, setting the perfect stage for a rewarding birdwatching experience in Cusco.

Our first stop takes place in dry scrub and eucalyptus woodland, habitat of three Cusco endemic species: the Rusty-fronted Canastero, Creamy-crested Spinetail, and Chestnut-breasted Mountain Finch, an ideal start to this birding tour from Cusco, before continuing toward Ensifera Camp for more incredible hummingbird observations.

We continue to Piuray Lagoon, one of the most beautiful high-Andean wetlands near Cusco, home to species such as the Yellow-billed Teal, Puna Teal, Andean Duck, Silvery and White-tufted Grebe, and the striking Andean Lapwing. The Andean Flicker is also often seen foraging in open grasslands.

Our next stop is a small Andean pond surrounded by reeds, an intimate habitat that shelters colorful and elusive species like the Many-colored Rush Tyrant, Wren-like Rushbird, and Yellow-winged Blackbird — a true highlight for anyone passionate about birdwatching in the Sacred Valley, before heading to Ensifera Camp for the final hummingbird observation experience.
